What do our events provide?

01

Our Event Structure

Each event starts with a beginner and an intermediate lesson, both in the same style of dance, taught by professional instructors. You can choose which level to attend, and after 45 minutes of instruction, we open the dance floor for the rest of the evening, for you to practice what you learned, and enjoy dancing many other styles as well. Between our dances and workshops, we provide opportunities to learn 11-14 unique styles of dance each year.

02

Our Venue

Our balls are held on one of the largest floors in the metroplex – one specifically designed for smooth movement and the comfort of your knees in dancing. Our venue used to be an old movie theater, and the vintage charm is multiplied by its location in historic downtown Carrollton, TX. There’s a little park and gazebo across the street, and artisan ice cream and delicious dining within walking distance.

03

Our Unique Touch

In addition to dancing, our events embrace a new full-fledged theme each month, complete with décor, a photo op, and even themed refreshments – some of which are often lovingly hand-baked beforehand with premium ingredients. There are always options for gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free, vegan, and other diet preferences. Just ask, and we’ll let you know which are best suited to your needs!

04

Our Atmosphere

It's our priority that our events continue to be known for their warm, welcoming nature, humble and gracious attitudes, and safety and comfort of all attendees, as well as our continued commitment to excellence – and the great joy and community that so many have found here.

Our unique rhythm

Rather than sticking to one style, we embrace about 12 dance styles at each of our balls, and the selection may grow as our dancers’ knowledge increases.

Currently, each of our events features an emphasis on the style that was taught that evening, 5-10 East Coast Swing dances, and 2-4 each of Salsa, Bachata, Waltz, Viennese Waltz, Tango (both American and Argentine), Foxtrot, Rumba, Cha Cha, West Coast Swing, Two Step, and Progressive Double Two Step.

Occasionally we’ll throw in a Bolero, Quickstep, Night Club Two Step, Polka, Hustle, Merengue, Samba, or line dance, as is relevant or desired by our dancers.

You may even see additional styles being danced that aren’t listed!

Why do we embrace this approach?

We are blessed to live in a widely diverse dance community in DFW.

Social dances can be found every week exclusively for East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Two Step (including other variants and line dances), Salsa/Bachata, Argentine Tango, Kizomba, and others. There are also many amazing places to go ballroom dancing!

However, what is missing is a mixed/ballroom dancing event targeted to young people.

For those who want a taste of variety, adventure, and growth – to push themselves to experience new things, and feel like they are flying – to stretch, to learn, to achieve – we offer an opportunity to learn and practice a wide variety of dance styles, with all-out themes, and a delightful playlist of thoroughly loved music that spans from the 1800s to new releases hot out of the recording studios.

We’re always adapting and refining our playlists to not only match the theme, but to provide the best dance music available to our fabulous and equally well-loved dancers.

I want to learn to dance - where do I start?

It can be both exhilarating and overwhelming to walk into a ballroom where so many different styles are being danced. If your mind is reeling, and you think “How can I learn so many different dances?” just start with the first step.

If you attend our beginner lesson, you will already be prepared to dance to almost one-fourth of the songs that evening. Additionally, our instructors and other more experienced dancers are generally happy to give you a few pointers regarding some of the other styles along the sidelines, even after dancing has started! Just ask them. Everyone was new once, and our group is pretty gracious and happy to help. We are so thrilled to share the love of dance with new dancers!

You can also watch instructional video clips online, but you’ll be surprised how much easier everything clicks when you are actually on the dance floor. It feels so much more simple when you are actually doing it!

We also post a monthly calendar with recommended social dances and lessons around the metroplex. These are affordable (usually $20 and under) and almost all have no requirement of a partner or dance experience. Often, members of our group also go social dancing. If you’d like to join, and feel more comfortable with others you can spend time with, just message on social media or email us, and we’ll put you in touch with anyone we know is going! Supplementing our dances with events that have only one or two styles of dance all evening is a great way to lock those few styles into your memory even better. It’s truly a bit difficult to make substantial dance progress while only dancing once a month, but once a month is better than nothing!

Additionally, every other month we offer two hour workshops over one style of dancing. That’s a great way to get a lot of instruction and practice on one dance style, and to really make significant progress in learning it. We do suggest you practice it regularly afterward, so you can keep it committed to memory.

If you find a dance style you love, but just want a little more one-on-one help really getting it, or if you are learning a wedding dance, we have a list of excellent and affordable instructors as a resource on this website. You’d be amazed how much a one-on-one lesson can help. And, if you bring a friend or dance partner, the lessons are even more affordable for each of you! Plus, you have someone to practice with afterward.

For someone who really wants to get into dancing, there are genuinely more excellent resources than time allows. We are so excited to be on this dance journey with you, and can’t wait to grow, and deeply live this world of dance, together.
